This game needs a hard mode. All my games are hall of fame, outsell the consoles they're on by 3 to 1, win Game of the Year every year, and I dominate the hardware market. My Audio Novel won "Best Graphics." Is there like something else I'm supposed to do after this that I'm missing?
Since my original play through fell into an SRPG rut, I started again. It turns out the game that has been by far my most successful was on the Virtual Boy equivalent, which is hysterical. It's odd that the Genesis never came out in my current play through. The Game Gear, SNES, PC-FX, and Virtual Boy are all out, but no second Sega console.
The Exodus is the first Senga console, the Uranus is the second...
Also, I figured out that diversifying the genres as much as possible really helps. Every time you get a genre (not a type) to Level 2 or Level 5, you get 2 extra points for directing your games, so if you make a lot of different kinds of games you can fill those little green bars up pretty quick.
There are some genres I've never figured out how to make work though. Anything I put with Motion doesn't work (Cartoon, Golf, Baseball, Swimsuit, etc). I also haven't figured out what to combine any Sports related things with, since there doesn't seem to be a Sports genre, only a Sports type... Anyone figure these out?
The Career Change Manual is the most valuable item in the game, I buy 3 of them every time the salesman comes. If you hire a bunch of hackers, level them up, and then level them up in the other jobs and make them like a Director in the end you have some ridiculously powerful, versatile guys with stats in the 400s.

Pop Star & Motion
Dance & Motion
Drums & Motion
Fitness & Motion
Snowboard & Motion
Pinball & Motion
Slots & Motion
These are only the "Amazing!" pairings.
Sports & SimulationI also haven't figured out what to combine any Sports related things with, since there doesn't seem to be a Sports genre, only a Sports type...
Sports & Puzzle
Sports & Motion
There are no "Amazing!" Sports pairings, those are the creative ones.
Yeah, I did the Sports Sim and Sports Motion ones, but I didn't get my Amazing bonus so I was sad.
I find it really goofy that Snowboard and Motion is "amazing" but Golf and Baseball are "Bizarre."
My first million seller was a Train Simulation game named Damsel Killer. I finally hit that crowned status for sequels with the Virtual Pet Action game Puppy Puncher. I went on to make a number of sequels each selling better and better and then created the Virtual Pet Online game of PuPuOn (Puppy Puncher Online). My best sales to date, sadly, was from the Puzzle Checkers game King Stacker at 25 million shipped.
I still need to finish out that 20th year so that I have the ability to restart, and then get a hardware engineer and make my own console.
Hype definitely affects sales more than genre popularity. My online lawyer sim Matlock World (boo on "World of Matlock" being too long) sold 58 million. On a console with an installed base of 17 million.
