Then you're done with consoles, because Microsoft is going to announce the same thing in April.
edit: These companies aren't going to spend millions to make games designed for a PPC architecture work on an X86 architecture. When Nintendo joins this generation in 2018, they'll do the same thing too.

Sony will have to make a new emulator for PS1 classics that runs on the PS4. They did it for Vita and offered it for free, so hopefully they follow that example again and don't get any ideas from Nintendo.
I'm assuming that PSN will stay up but now support a 4th console, the PS4. I can still boot up my PSP, log in and download an old game or buy a new game.
I know some online servers are hosted by the game companies and not Sony (like Demon's Souls), so what will be playable online and for how long is a crap shoot.
