So whereas Bluetooth could reject the DS3, wired accessories may actually have a better chance of working.
What PS2 devices do you mean? The only things I can think of are mics/headsets, and the PS eye- does that work?

The PS3 and 360 are basically the same for controllers. if its not designed for the system, it's not working. For the next gen, they just need to decide what they want to allow. Converters will work eventually, because those just trick the system.

I doubt USB3 or bluetooth have much to do with the decision. If they wanted to get it to work, they could probably do it easily. My guess is it won't out of the box, but they'll allow it sometime in the future.

I use my PS2 Neo Pad 2 on my PS3 with a converter, but you can also use regular old USB Saturn pads with the PS3. There isn't a lockout chip like there is on 360. Now, analog stuff may not work, because of how the system works, but digital only stuff definitely does. I think GohanX said that the Neo Geo X joystick worked with his PS3 too.

  3. it only has the potential to, the usb3 connectors were designed in such a way that usb3 features should never trigger on a usb2 device

Ah, I see. Thanks for that.

  5. Interesting, didn't know PS3 could use generic controllers. I'll look into that.

Unless you are doing something crazy, there's no way you're going to fry old USB stuff with a USB3 port.

cka is confusing voltage and current. USB3 can deliver more current vs USB2, but a circuit will only draw as much current as required, so there's no danger of anyone frying anything.

  7. I was thinking the same thing. Every thing I've read about USB3 states that it works at the same voltage.

Yup, I have a Neo X stick, Saturn USB pad and a flight stick that all work on the PS3. Flexibility is nice.

  9. Google is kind of failing me, whenever I look up stuff on PS3 controller compatibility I get links about using the DS3 on a PC. Does anyone have a site that has compatible controllers or just explains it?

  10. They haven't said anything about that and they probably won't until E3.
