Wow, then it seems that no console maker wants my money next gen.
Sony and MS might have played a big game of DRM chicken. It is possible that Sony wanted to see a reaction and then backtrack on their own plans. But honestly, I lol at the 'no used games, no buy' people because the companies don't care about their lack of real spending in the first place.
They'll care when the people who traded in old games to buy new ones suddenly stop buying games.

You're naive if you think that won't effect them or sales of new games. EASILY 70% if not more of Gamestop's client base is using the trade in of old games to buy new ones. Now when I say old I mean last weeks or last months games they're still getting 25 - 45 bucks for. Limiting trade ins on games is going to hurt new game sales.
So GameStop puts those bought back games in the landfill then?
I use trade in A LOT for buying new titles, especially when more than games are released close to each other. Without that, my new game purchases will drop significantly, so yeah, it will affect the amount of new software I buy. Am I don't think I'm alone. We'll see how new titles like Madden and COD are affected when people can't trade in games towards the purchase.

A lot of shit builds up. Our store had a few hundred copies each of GTAIII, Madden, NCAA, pretty much any big title. Yes, some people buy used, but the majority of the trade in credit given is going towards new games. We had a ton of regulars who came in with last weeks/months game(s) traded them in and spent 15 - 30 bucks to get new games, then did the same thing the next week/month. Kids/teenagers were the main ones buying used.
I'll say it again, if you think killing used game sales WON'T effect new sales you're naive, and I have a bridge to sell you.

You are only looking at one side. And *some* people buy used? You cannot even find more than one copy of a new game at GS. And it isn't because 'they bought them all already'.
