Thread: Gun Lord (Neo-Geo & Dreamcast)

  1. I'm a bit disappointed with the lack of color in some stages and the horrible character design. I've ask the devs to fix this if they want to sell the game in Japan.

Regardless, day 1 for Neo MVS and I'll stick it in an arcade in Akiba.

  2. Yeah, needs more garish colours, schoolgirls, and girly men, preferably with giant swords and cat ears. Some seizure inducing effects and nonsensical voice samples wouldn't hurt, either.

Since it'll go in a retro arcade, more like no face muscle men with a billion different weapons at their disposal going through wastelands.

It's supposed to be European in flavour. That means cold metallic characters and lots of detailed (some would say unnecessary) shading. I think it looks glorious, personally, but that's because the obvious inspiration (the Turrican games) is one of my favourites.

The music on the website does sound very Amiga-like.

NG: DEV Team has updated their Gun Lord teaser site with some new pictures. The game could almost pass as Turrican 4 if it tried. "Jump. Shoot. Explore.", says the slogan at the bottom of the page.

In the 1st shot, there's a bunch of gems and the main character is shooting a multi way shot similar to Turrican. To the top right, another picture shows a flame shot that could be the "Surround" weapon. The BGM played on the page reminds me a little of Chris Hulsbeck's stuff.

    Day one, damnit.
just wondering how many years this hardware(neo-geo) will still running 30 or 40 years huh. long live neo-geo and the 2d gaming

  8. It's not a bot, but it's also not a person... Some sort of cyborg perhaps?

Yeah, I wasn't either. But fast Striker is pretty damn good. I have the Dreamcast version and it sold me on the idea of getting it on the MVS.

"All creatures will DIE, and all things will be BROKEN: That is the law of the SAMURAI."

  10. Looks like Turrican meets Shadow of the Beast. Interested.
