You guys suck. First: in this day and age if you're buying something sight unseen you're a fucking retard. $20 to watch a disc based movie for the first time? Get right out of town with that shit.
Second: fuck you.
Third: nevermind.
He died penniless because people would buy a six pack, and share them.
also: That was a troll and you know it.

You won't have to bother getting rid of it if you download it. It's as simple as dragging the files to your trashcan!

I used to be just like you. Afraid of digital media. But it's inevitable. Consumers want the cheapest goods and access to those goods with the path of least resistance. Online offers that... or at least is starting to with the advent of services like Netflix and Hulu. Blockbuster is its first victim (and by their fault they COULD have rolled out Netflix for themselves back when it first started - it was originally a pitch for an add-on service to them).
Distribution is going the way of the dodo. Which is why there's increasingly more pressure from big business to create tiered internet packages. So accessing Google, CNN, Twitter and Facebook are tier 1 and cost you 10 bucks a month to access. Youtube, Hulu and Netflix are 25 a month and TNL and other "non-official" sites are 40 bucks a month. Net neutrality is having a hard time getting legs but physical media is probably a catalyst in building pressure.

Netflix and Hulu are nice and all but Yoshi wasn't talking about the best streaming service, he was talking about the best place for buying movies.
Maybe at some undefined point in the future digital movies will be cheaper, more convenient, and as high quality as discs. Then, I'll tell Yoshi-of-the-future to buy a digital movie. Until then, I gave him my best advice.
I buy, at most, 3-5 discs a year, movies I really care about. The last one I got was Apocalypse Now. The rest I rent VOD through FIOS.
