Thread: Street Fighter III: Third Strike: Online Edition

  1. Some day hopefully we will have desktop monitors as dense as the Iphone screen and then we can deal with resolutions like that.

But yeah. Fudging the CPS into 1600x1200 is a PITA.

  2. If I had more time and a faster PC, I'd really like to try coding an emulator plugin that uses fancy shmancy shaders to render each pixel as a particle. That way it could scale to any resolution and allow some of the other trendy effects like screen curvature.

  3. So are Sanwa parts any good?

I'm thinking about picking up a cheap, moddable stick and then putting in some quality parts just to try something different from the Madcatz fightpad. I do fine when I'm facing the right side of the screen, but I can't pull out any moves for the life of me facing the left side.

I've spent two weeks now messing with the d-pad on the darn thing internally, and I just don't think any amount of tinkering can fix it. Saturn d-pad is still the champ for me, with the Genesis 4-way cross a close second.

  4. Getting ready to order a bunch of Seimitsu buttons from these guys, impressions to follow.

  5. Almost have my scan line technique to where I want it.

So I guess the question is: Why was it so easy to come up with scan lines that look better than what we got in a pro game?

  6. #1026
Because you and recap are the only people in the world that give a fuck.

  7. ...

To get an idea of how to make this, I went to Recap's message board to find crisp close-up photos of the phosphors on real monitors running old games. For reals.

    *hangs head in shame*

  8. Well, I just won a Madcatz stick off eBay for $78 that some dude put all-Sanwa parts into. Dunno if that was a good deal or not, but it will be interesting to see how this thing compares to the Madcatz fightpad.

These were the parts he put into it:

SANWA 30mm snap-in buttons ordered from Lizardlick

SANWA JLF-TP-8YT-SK stick ordered from Lizardlick
So saved myself the trouble of having to mod one of these fuckers, I hope.

  9. Sounds like a good deal. Will take time to get used to.
    Check out Mr. Businessman
He bought some wild, wild life
On the way to the stock exchange
He got some wild, wild life

  10. So it's a SE stick that's modded with Sanwa parts for $78.

Not bad. I like my TE stick way more, but my Sanwa modded SE is nice.
