These East Coast Throwdown matches right now are out of control
Combofiend vs. RayRay was some of the best Marvel play I've seen in a while. If this is just ECT, I cannot wait for EVO.
If any of you like great Ultimate Marvel play, tune into East Coast Throwdown now on twitch.tv/teamsp00ky. MK was awesome, too, but that ended way earlier. VF5 was on too and it was fun to watch even though I don't understand the game.
But right now it's a stacked final eight in Ultimate Marvel and everyone will learn something from it. I gotta get my game back.
Did anyone watch any of the matches at MLG? this past weekend? I missed the whole thing, and was curious if it was of the same quality of the Evo related tournaments.
I don't pay much attention to MLG events. They play everything but Capcom fighters (my favorite fighters) and have some pretty stupid rules. They don't want to change them so I don't care to support them.
Capcom wont give them a license to run tournaments on their games (have no idea why this is the case), and I guarantee that it caused a hit on the players and stream viewers. They only had Mortal Kombat, KOF 13, and Soul Calibur 5. I didn't think any of those games had a large tournament scene.
MK has a huge scene. The game has been out more than a year and is still in EVO. That's a big thing for a tournament that will boot a game if it doesn't get at least a couple of hundred of entrants. That said, Keits has said if MLG continues to make events to compete with Road to EVO tournaments/majors that the community has been supporting for years they won't get shit for players or viewers. Arturo Sanchez is now working with them and is trying his hardest to hype it up but it just isn't working even though the pots are bigger. If they want help making their events bigger, plan it out with the community and adopt its rules. Until they do that, they'll just stay as minor events.
