Thread: Fighting Game Tournament Discussion or Something

  1. Nah. I was hoping to go but still haven't found work here. Can't spend money willy nilly.

  2. It would pay for itself if you go AND WIN!

  3. The game I play has well over a thousand entrants. Even the lower end of the top placers give me a hard time to win. I won't leave it to chance.

  4. You sound a lot more confident in your abilities when you're in game. I haven't seen you play when you're actually trying your damnedest to win, but I bet you'd do better than you think.

  5. When I'm on point I'm pretty good. I don't do silly shit I do in casuals and hit a point where I just focus on what the opponent is doing and how I can counter it. I can do alright but in reality I won't get to the pot. There are killers up there.

  6. Also, if I get that far Anth should get even farther. He's perfected Zero's lightning loops before top players even knew what it is is and how important it is to Zero's offense. For me to beat Zero/Dante/Iron Man I have to try real hard not to lose Hawkeye and keep Sentinel and Akuma healthy.

Or, you know, I could stop being a lazy fuck and perfect my Spencer's kill combos and run Spencer/Frank West/Wesker or Spencer/Vergil/Frank West (damn you, Justin Wong).

  7. Yeah Justin just took CEO with that last team you mentioned, I believe. Also took SSF4. Fucking Rufus.

  8. Ramon really is pretty good, but I would be in the same boat (check out my sig). You don't go to Evo expecting to make money unless that game is your life.
    Check out Mr. Businessman
He bought some wild, wild life
On the way to the stock exchange
He got some wild, wild life

  9. I hope anyone who is a fan of fighting games watches EVO on Jul. 6-8. It'll be the largest crowd yet and possibly the most money on the line. AE itself has $25K on the line, Marvel has $15K but I'm not sure if the Phoenix Wright bounty is included in that, MK9 has more money on the line than Marvel I think, and so on and so forth.

If you're watching from home, you can buy the PPV stream that's in 720p for $12 and your money will go toward a scholarship fun. I'm going to see where my finances are that weekend and if I have it I'm going to give up a six pack and watch EVO sober. Many of you have no idea how big a gesture that is for me. If you don't have the cash

Go to Shoryuken.com for any updates and stream links. OH! And there's also an app to help you navigate through games and pools. This will make betting way easier.

  10. For anyone interested, Ponder is streaming old EVO footage here. It's mostly Capcom fighters, MvC2 right now, but EVOs have included DOA4, Soul Calibur 2-4, SSB: Brawl, Virtua Fighter, Tekken 4-5 (maybe 6, I'm not sure but it also includes TTT), the Guilty Gear Series, and I think there was one year where Mario Kart was done as a goof tournament. The streaming is random but maybe you'll enjoy some old competition footage.
