This is the filthiest thread title on TNL.
Supposedly this is getting mixed reviews from test screenings. I'm avoiding spoilers, but the gist of it seems to be great fights/effects, bad everything else.
But is it bad bad or good bad? If it's corny dialogue of people running around giving stupid pep speeches and being all nationalist or whatever then that's what I would want from this anyway.
The people I've seen hate on it so far have all been in the crowd of where they're too cool for it because it openly displays its homages.
Hard to say. Bad to one person might be totally awesome to the next. Like I said, I'm trying to avoid spoilers, although I doubt there are any Earth-shattering revelations to be revealed if I didn't. The general feel is that the characters, story, dialogue, etc, are kinda stupid and cliche, but isn't that the point of Godzilla movies in the first place? I mean, who gives a shit what the humans do anyway?
But, if that's indeed the case, a valid point would be to say, why fall back on that? Why not make a movie that delivers on all fronts? But whatever...I'll see it no matter what. Based on the trailer and Del Toro's track record, there's no way it won't at least be good entertainment, and who knows? It might just be amazing.

The black guy dies first.
That's a time-honored tradition.
Based on the trailer, this doesn't surprise me at all.
Aside from the special effects (which look amazing) the movie had two things going for it: Idris Elba and Ellen McClain's voice. And now it turns out that McClain isn't actually doing the GlaDOS voice in the movie.
So we have no reason to assume this is going to be good.
