I had no idea that film existed.
Well, Scott didn't direct it I guess.
Whatever man. Todd has seen things you... people wouldn't believe.

Agreed. Blade Runner took the issues of the time and mutated them to create a depiction of hell on Earth. The movie's utterly preachy subtext might be lost on other cultures or latter generations, which mostly explains cyberpunk glorifying BR's dystopia.
It's not a popular opinion, but I'm convinced that most of BR's success was accidental. Most of the cast, and of course the original story, disagrees with Scott's interpretation of the movie, and the film's Final Cut contradicts years of speculation and analysis. So I'm not sure that Scott can strike lightning again with a BR sequel. I'll see how Prometheus turns out first.Augmented reality, video games that don't use controllers, retro 80s obsession? It's close in a few ways (and completely off in many others).

Total Recall will always be the real sequel to me.
I don't know if the world in blade runner was specifically 80s. Or the world of Aliens, Total Recall, Robocop, etc, for that matter.
I mean yeah, the way those movies came across were very 80s. The way things were set up, the dialog, the effects, yeah, 80s.
But the messages on how business and corporations can distort and control humanity go all the way back to the start of the industrial revaluation. Shit, brah, just look at the movie Metropolis.
I think me and you like being difficult, and bad things happen to threads when we argue.
