Fuck, I had no idea Soldier was supposed to exist in the Blade Runner universe.

As a huge Philip Dick fan, I'm always amazed of how his vision of the future was a perfect reflection of his current time. Blade Runner managed to channel this effect, but with early 80s being reflected instead of the 60s. Even if they nail the story and acting and everything else in a sequel, I don't see how they can match the aesthetics of first movie.

I just hope this movie will only be tangentially related to the original, and not a direct sequel. That way they have enough license to not be tied so closely to the impossible to replicate (haha, get it!) original.

Have you ever thought about how much Wall-E is a loose adaptation of DADOES? Whether you agree or not, that movie was a dystopic reflection of current issues.

The reason this won't work is because the future will be made of shitty CG instead of meticulous set design layered with amazing matte paintings.
