Yeah, unfortunately most businesses aren't that altruistic.
Fairly sure the publishers that were asked didn't mind all that much, especially since most of them have some history with Disney.

With as much money as Disney has, they probably paid a team to contact these companies and draw up contracts and shit.
And all of them probably said yes because they knew it was pixar and would boost product awareness with everyone between 1 and 30.
Take the cyborg justice guy for example. How many 8 year olds do you think know who the hell that is? How many do you think will know after the movie. I'm guess more than now.
It's not Pixar, just Disney.
