I blame a growing political correctness in entertainment for the zombie fad.
In the 80s they just killed brown people if it was an action movie. If it was horror, it was robots, mutants, masked people. Sometimes you had ninjas. Zombies were a minority.
Now you can't kill brown people, It is mean and hateful.
I wonder what they will use after zombies and vampires get tired. Ninjas? Dinosaurs? Aliens?
