Don't get the hate for Arc Systems Works fighters. I only didn't play BB because it seemed too complex for me to get into at the time. The art looks good, the systems are usually fun to learn and tough to master...don't really think you could call them objectively bad, but I guess a distaste for the anime style could turn some people off?

I think you may have nailed it. There weren't characters I want to play as in the GG games was what I found way back when I was considering them. I have to give them credit for not going down the aesthetic shit hole that is Street Fighter IV though. And obviously the SMT characters are better than their own.

edit: Frankly it wouldn't matter anymore though. KoFXIII was exactly what I want from a fighter on paper, and I never bought it, so by definition I don't get a (dollar) vote.

BB wasn't any more complex than their previous stuff, it was just different. I was initially put off at first because it felt heavier than GG and there seemed to be less of an air game, though I think it ended up just being different than what I was expecting/wanting. When I gave it another shot later on I liked it a lot more without the GG expectations hanging on, but by that point there was a long-term skill barrier to overcome and I just haven't bothered putting in the time.

First impression: this game does everything right as far as matchmaking goes that Capcom seems incapable of. Custom ranked search with an option for "FAST CONNECTIONS ONLY". Hallelujah
The netcode is kind of off though, every match starts off with a bit of slowdown that sometimes lasts just a couple seconds or the entire first round. Not good, but hopefully it's what they're working on.

And the game seems pretty fun so that's good too.

I dunno, the game looks good, people seem to like it, but I've played like 4 different versions of GG and 3 of BB. Couldn't get into ANY of them. I understand that's a "me" thing, but it's keeping me from trying P4A out.

So far I'm loving it! Music and presentation is top notch, plus looks great in HD on a big flat screen. I haven't played online yet, but I think they also have a catagory for players who don't complete matches and mark em in red. The title system for your profile is a bit weird and can see already ways to make it pervy.

I just finished the tutorial school mode and did a few challanges. Going thru arcade mode, which has some story too. So far the BG's all look very nice.

The game is button mash friendly, but with lots of deeper elements to weed out easy wins and seperate skilled from noob. Also if you dug the 1 hit kills in Guilty Gear, they are back in P4, but only if it will complete the match and you have enough power saved up.

We need to make a TNL player room and learn off each other.

The game has a good bit of different modes, so I may stay busy for awhile.
