Jim Caldwell as the head coach at Wake Forest (1993-2000) had the record of 26-63. The loser couldn't even hack it in college.
But perennial playoff loser Tony Dungy and puppet master Bill Polian selected him as the next head coach, without any head coaching hiring search/process whatsoever (like say how the Steelers did and discovered Mike Tomlin over incumbent favorites Ken Wisenhunt and Russ Grimm). Colts fans hoped he could serve as the caretaker and the failure of a head coach can't muster near that. Under him the Colts went from being one of the best halftime adjustment teams in the NFL to being one of the worst, they are now miserable and severely deficient in halftime adjustments (even with Peyton last year they were badly outscored in the 3rd quarter). He directly gave away two games last season, including the Wild Card playoff game against the Jets by repeating the same damn idiocy, with boneheaded timeouts called. They play musical chairs with players with no intelligent reason, often to disastrous results, and fail miserably at getting anywhere near the most out of players. His hand-picked defensive coordinator Larry Coyer, who Caldwell played for in college, engineers the league's worst defense. Caldwell is a living, breathing, clueless blunder who can't be fired fast enough.
Peyton's injury might be a blessing in disguise, if he can come back healthy and play again, as it exposes the trash for what it is without him covering it up with double-digit victories.

Thanks. That passion was in full effect this past Sunday night. I was celebrating every Saints' touchdown and laughing at the absolute ease with which the Saints moved the ball on the joke of a Colts defense all game. I wish they could have scored 70 points, and only hope they are more similar blowout losses to come this season, all in hopes of registering on Jim Irsay's half-a-brain (if that) the absolute need for change. There's already talk that heads will already roll after this season, but I'd like to make sure of it, especially that all heads responsible (namely Bill Polian) see the figurative knife.
And of course this losing means drafting higher in the order, although I'd still say the Dolphins seem to lead the running for the first overall draft pick i.e. Andrew Luck. If there's any question about Peyton's health, I am definitely for Andrew Luck (and maybe even Matt Barkley), but if Peyton is healthy then I'd try to trade down and accumulate more picks. Especially as, as a fan of college football and the NFL Draft, this is shaping up to be an incredibly poor year to have a Top 10 pick if you need defense, unfortunately.![]()
This was him talking about Murray's 25 carries, which is something the Cowboy's haven't had a single back do in 3 years since Marion Barber. Clearly it's a terrible idea and should be avoided, it didn't work at all.Originally Posted by Jason Garrett

I'm more annoyed with the idea that a "trend" means that something that use to work is stupid.
Just to present the question: I remember reading that Running Back By Committee was popularized by the success it wielded in the Patriots, does that seem like something that holds true? Or is there another team before them that used the RBBC well?
RBBC means your RBs suck. It's like that saying that if you have two QBs, you really have none. Who are the non-committee guys? Peterson, Gore, Rice, Johnson, Foster, etc. Notice a pattern here?
Carolina's tandem used to be very formidable. Also, Ben Tate ran wild for the Texans before Foster returned. QBs play every offensive snap; RBs don't
