Seriously icarus, what was your plan on bioilluminating soup?

Cook one sliced orange in a 500 oven until it's charcoal. Cut the coals into small bits.

Dehydrate another sliced orange at full power for 18 hours. Cut into small bits.

Run both through a spice grinder until they're dust. Store in an airtight container.

Sprinkle as a finishing spice.

We used it with humboldt fog cheese, honey, almonds and pears that were peeled and then charred black.

Wow. Does the charcoal itself retain any citrus flavor? Really wish I lived closer so I could check some of this stuff out.

The algae might work wonderfully. When they go for a bite the liquid fluoresces. I wanted to do a clear dessert soup. Was thinking orange.

No One: The charcoal retains orange scent, not really flavor. Smells like orange oil and tastes like smoke. Adding the dehydrated orange ups the flavor to orange again while keeping it powdered and black.
