Shitty people will do shitty things with the extra information they can now obtain just like good people will do good things with it.
Welcome to earth.
It is ignorant and dishonest to pretend like everyone is going to have the same hiring morals that you have.
And it ignorant and dishonest for you to sit there and tell me you don't care what people do online, and then use online information to make hiring decisions. Clearly you do care or you wouldn't do it.

Well, that is really the thing. It is the person you appear to be. You can opt in and opt out of privacy right now. You can decide to not have a facebook. You can decide to make it private. You can be anonymous to most people, if you choose. And people would need to go to more than average trouble to find out who you are, if you've opted for privacy.
But, as the original point of the thread, some people in high places want to get rid of the opting in or opting out. They want to make it where you are not anonymous and everything you do is connected to you.
And how exactly is that right? How is it right to out everyone that might be doing or thinking things that they want private? If I go online and look at men touching tips, what is that any of your business? Or anyone else's businesses? What right does anyone have to put that on a permanent record for me?
sit on your hands
not do dick
not do anything
it is a saying
I don't care. I look at publicly available information about the people I hire because it's publicly available. It's a tool, one I'm thankful of, and one I provide to people who do business with me. I didn't once say everyone shares my morals, what we're saying is we're getting to a point that none of this shit matters. I argue we're well on our way past that point.
I can't think of a single sane argument against a public Internet. It's like any tool - yes it can be abused, but it can also be used for a lot of good.
ABOUT ME.
"Underground music should have its back turned, it needs to be gone, untrackable, unreadable"
then shut the fuck up.
If you and josh really don't care about any possible negative consequence, just shut up. Seriously, if you don't care about half of the conversation, just don't participate. It is a waste of my time and your time if you have no interest in considering anyone else's take on things.
