Thread: Brotherhood of the wolf.

  1. Brotherhood of the wolf.

any love for this movie? i saw it in the theatres and besides the movie not knowing when to end, loved it very much. anyone know when its coming out to buy?

  2. I don't know, I think I was just expecting something else, and I thought this movie blew big time. I saw it in theaters too (when it was in limited release) and was bored. I think I was expecting more of an action movie though, so I think I'll give it a 2nd chance when it comes out on DVD. Sorry, no idea when that is though.

  3. I'll only watch it again if I have an access to a fast foward button.

  4. It'll be out on dvd Oct. 1. I enjoyed the movie, and thought the pacing was just fine. However, I thought the ending dragged on too long, it seemed the director thought we cared for the characters with all our hearts or something.

  5. Well, Well. Its good to see another thread about Brotherhood of the wolf I made a couple of at the old boards at the time this movie came out.

What can I say. I really enjoyed it. It was excellent mix of mystery, adventure, horror and action. I didnt find it boring, even though it did have some slow parts, and could have been better if they would did a little edit, but even those werent really bad. Maybe you guys went to see it expecting a straight action/martial arts film, like it looked from the trailer. Even DJ watched through it, without too much complaining

I'm happy that they kept the orginal French dialog, and didnt do a dub, like they do with many HK made films.

Cristoph Ganz did an excellent job directing. Great sets, fast and in your face action, and I liked the creature fx and design(even though many people just claim it too be too fakey).

Mark Dacascos was excellent as Mani. And so were the French actors. Philip Kwok did a encellent martial arts choregoraphy on the film, and Dacascos and french crew did great job in the action scenes. Fights were brutal and bloody, just like I like them

The final swordfight was one of the BEST I ever seen, and trust me I seen a plenty I loved chain link bone sword, simular to Ivy's from Soul Calibur. Very cool

There is a French SPecial Edition dvd available now, but its Region 2 and has no English subs. US DVD is stated to come out in October, and I really looking forward getting it

  6. yeah i know what you guys mean. from the previews it seemed like it was going to be a totally different movie. ill admit, i did get a lil bored and thought it didnt know when to end but overall ive been let down a lot worse. hmmm so october it is. cant wait to find out about some extras.

That's probably what it was, I was expecting more of an action movie, and I think that's why I was bored and let down (I was in the mood for action, don't think I ALWAYS want something like that). And as for the subs, that's the trend now ever since Crouching Tiger.

  8. Well, You guys can still deny, that some of the parts were totally kick ass though Especially last fight.

As for Subbed foreign films. Yes CTHD did start the trend, and Brotherhood, and Shiri were released earlier this year with subs, instead of dubbing, but still companies like Miramax, tend to just a dub on their US releases of HK films, that do cause the outrages of fans.

  9. I never did get a chance to see this but I will eventually... does it actually have anything to do with wolves though?

  10. Well, Following contains some slight spoilers. Read on your own risk

    **********Spoiler***********

Well, They do kill alot of innocent wolves during the big hunt , as they lead to believe that its a huge wolf responsible for the murders.

Later at the end wolfs do take revenge on one of the main bad guys, avenging for the death of one of the main characters.

Check it out Werewolf, its a great film.
