Thread: Transformers: Fall of Cybertron (PC, PS3, 360)

  1. The end credits are incredible. I must play this game now.

After I've had time to sleep on it, I think what bothers me about the game is that it manages to do more than the first game but feels like it does less. It has a lot of new great ideas for the tf gaming, but doesn't flesh them out enough. It feels like the first game with some tweaks.

Why no multiplayer modes with gestalts/combiners? Maybe some kind of capture the flag or team fortress combat and if your team gathers all your flags you combine for a short period. Or maybe no gimmick and you just combine with the person wtih the largest kill count being the brain? Your handicap will be that your fucking huge and an easy target in a death match.

Why is there no icon in to call in a base strike in multiplayer? (this may in fact be there but I can't get it yet because multiplayer uses a leveling system to get bullshit)

And if I can be all pie in the sky for a second, I wish they'd take all their developed resources so far and make a wario ware like game. Just lots of mini games that focus on the different transformers. Maybe a sumo game where trypt and metro fight. Maybe an afterburner game where you have to land arielbots on metroplex. Maybe transformers tetris with preceptor. Maybe a pikimin game with minibots.

  3. I agree that it feels like they do less with more, but I also like the more. Having different transformers with very different play styles beats the original's one-size-fits-all campaign design. I think it makes sense that campaign is solo in that sense - stalking cons as Cliffjumper wouldn't be as satisfying if that whole section had to be designed around different bots (or a player who fucks it up for a sneaky partner).

But it spends so much time showing all these new ideas, that it didn't feel like they spent enough elaborating on them. Which is a shame - so much of it is fun. Especially the end chapters.

Multi is interesting just because it's far more streamlined. One perk per weapon/ability, only two weapons and one ability at a time. On the surface it seemed cheap but after a few hours I could see how the limits were smartly implemented. Plus it makes Scientists a class on par with the rest than overpowered.

Pretty much this. You don't get to be any one character enough to truly enjoy how unique they are. How long do you get to use metroplex's airstrike? 1 level? Swoop? A quarter of one level?

I could play a whole game of combaticon levels or a whole came of dinobots. Thats why I said I'd like to see a warioware style game. I'd like to see all this stuff fleshed out more. the game feels confined trying to not break away too much from the 1st.

BTW, how many Easter eggs have you found. I found two so far

There is a pin up of arcee in one of the cliffjumper levels. And a dancing robot switch somewhere, I forget.

btw, playing multiplayer against 12 year olds at 8 am is weird.

Saw the dancing robot switch, dunno if its an easter egg, but Teletrann says it can't work fro Grimlock. There's a breakable wall behind it that leads to nothing, but prompts you to break it, cutting up Teletrann in the process. Was kinda funny! Or how Slug enters the same way he did in the movie.

Truth, those were the best parts of the previous good Transformer games! I loved fighting the aircraft carrier motherfucker in Armada and Omega Supreme in the other Cybertron game.

Found another easter egg. In the first optimus level, right before you run off with warpath, you can go in Grimlock's room and watch his TV

Dinobots will probably be DLC for multiplayer

  10. There are Dinobot parts to unlock (one for each class), but the requirement is high - I think you need to prestige (Prime, as they call it) then get to some insane level. It's only superficial changes too.
