Extra Life 2011 - Gaming Marathon for Charity

Some people may have noticed on the TNL Facebook group me posting a link for donations to Extra Life 2011, and I realized, why just get donations when all of TNL can be involved if they'd like helping raise money for a great cause. Starting next Saturday at 8am you play games for 24 hours and get people to pledge a specific amount per hour, and all donations go directly to the charity of your choosing from their list. All of them benefit children's health/hospitals.

The more TNL people who want to get involved the better, I already have a team set up with 3 of my friends already, team "Walking on Sunshine", and the more people from TNL (or anywhere) that want to join the better! If you don't have the time to participate, or are just in a giving mood, any donations to my cause, the Cleveland Rainbow Babies and Children's hospital will be more appreciated than you could ever know. This is the hospital that saved my life when I was born, so any support I can help out with is tremendous to me.

And yeah, my friend mentioned doing this about a month ago and I had completely forgotten until he reminded me to sign up this week. Fortunately I didn't end up having plans all day next Saturday so I'm able to take part in it. I really think this is a fantastic idea. It is trying to get a rather large demographic of people (gamers) to be actively involved in a philanthropic event, yet having them do exactly what they want to be doing all day anyways. Two huge thumbs up to Extra Life and the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals for organizing an event like this.

So I'm starting this around 8am and am going to try and do 24 hours straight with as little stopping as possible. If anyone sees me online I'll be down to play pretty much anything so definitely send me a message.

Thank you to everyone that donated from TNL, I really appreciate every dollar that was given!! I highly recommend everyone considering doing this, it's definitely going to be a kick ass time and for a good cause.

I'm 12 1/2 hours in and going strong. A good 7 hours of Dark Souls making me feeling like a big stupid idiot and then a victorious hero over and over again, a little Gears 3, a little Halo Reach, a bit of DJ Hero 2, then some Kinect Adventures + Dance Central to get the blood flowing. Now time for more coffee, some Portal 2 co-op, and anything multiplayer. Whoop whoop!
