Thread: The Pinball Arcade

  1. Vita version's forced touch screen garbage is very annoying. Also, crashing before it saves my high score.

I thought this was supposed to be the be-all end-all of pinball sims. I bought one for the PC like ten years ago and it seemed to be better made than this. No obvious bugs, and a cool navigation mode where you could study the table real close and see all the details. This one feels sketchy and bare bones.

  2. Ripley's is my favorite table on the compilation so far, as I am a big Pat Lawlor fan. I don't think my score is going to last long, though. I was only a few shots away from taking down
DJ's score in Theatre. I made it to the wizard mode, and completing it gets you 1.1 billion points, which would've easily given me the top score. A bad bounce sent the ball careening between the flippers which ended it. So close!

Compass: I think the game you're talking about is Hyper 3D Pinball. I had the Saturn release, and loved it. Tommy Tallarico composed the music for the game.

  3. Actually it was the Pro Pinball series. For some reason I thought they were real tables simulated, but I guess not. They pretended to be, though. Not like Flipnic. I liked the Fantastic Journey one the best. Big Race USA was also good:

  4. I owned the entire series. They were definitely the most "realistic" simulations, even down to having an operator's menu. Timeshock was my favorite.

Tapatalk is causing some weird formatting for me for some reason.

  5. Hyper 3D pinball was great. So was Necronomicon.

Got to wizard mode a few times in Arabian but couldn't complete it. Honestly, with playoff hockey and work, I really haven't played all that much.

  6. Medieval Madness and The Bride of Pinbot added to the mobile version a few days ago, so I guess that's what's next for the consoles.

I'm pretty ambivalent towards both of these. Pinbot was an iconic table, so that should make some people happy. Medieval Madness is also highly rated among players and collectors, so that also should make some people happy.

  7. Apparently Circus Voltaire and Funhouse are also on the way. I hope the release schedule for 360 can keep up with mobile.

Also, I got to play Attack from Mars today on a fully working machine, with all lights, flippers, and bumpers feeling brand-new. A local comic store has a bank of pinball machines a collector lets them use. I need to drop by there more often.

  8. Ah, Attack From Mars... a table where it's possible to score 100+ million before the ball ever reaches your flippers. Love it.

  9. The sad thing is I remember playing Comet when it was brand-new in the arcades. The first 1,000,000 point shot in a pinball game ever! I don't think I ever managed to actually earn it, but I hope it shows up in Pinball Arcade someday so I can try again.

  10. DJ Incompetent annihilated my scores earlier today. Time for retribution.

I probably won't be taking down that TOTAN score anytime soon, but I got a strategy to use to reclaim the Theater top spot.
