I'm glad I grabbed my CM9 touchpad rom last night instead of waiting until today

e2: I guess in a way, megaupload getting taken offline should/will become the alpha example of why we don't need SOPA and PIPA
Megaupload has always complied with takedown requests as sanctioned by the DMCA. First Megaupload, next Youtube. It's really a pretty gray area.

  2. The number one reason I used megaupload was to share video game save files.

    Pretty sure that's legal?

  3. Probably not. Those save files are part of a copyrighted work, even though they are modified by the user.
I don't imagine any publisher would care, but you never know. A completed save would compete with lazy-man DLC, after all.

  4. I guess video games have just always had the culture of promoting user-modifications to game code, even if it's technically illegal.

As long as youtube stays up, I don't really care music wise if they shut all these sites down. Pirating full albums is lame.

Legal enough for CBS's lawyers (owners of cnet and thus GameFAQs), so yeah.

This is only loosely related, but I'm not sure there's a better place to put it. Speculate on the mess this Supreme Court decision will create. Instead of just protecting their lobbyists' copyrights, now Congress can reassign copyrights to them.

  8. Worst Supreme Court in American history.
