Thread: South Park: The Stick of Truth (PC, PS3, 360)

  1. $10 on Steam.

It's like if the PERFECT Austin Powers videogame came out next week... who cares?

South Park is still relevant, though. The Game of Thrones/console wars series of episodes were great.

  3. Debatable? I'm sure The Simpsons puts out a good one now and then too.

  5. This game so far doesn't date itself. I think it avoids that by referencing all 17 years. I've heard chef songs, protect my balls, met Al Gore, Aliens, the GoT stuff. If you watched and liked South Park at all you'll enjoy the game.

  6. South Park might not be at their peak but I'd argue they're still doing a good job and at the very least aren't in any way tarnishing a legacy. Every time I watch a new Simpsons episode it offends me how awful it is. Every time.

  7. I was browsing Twitch and came upon a stream of this. Decided to take a peak as I've forgotten it was releasing this soon. Ended up seeing the final boss battle and ending.

    Whoops!

The game really does look fantastic. It's at times indistinguishable from the show in every aspect.

I don't wanna ruin too much in terms of how the story/jokes go but...

You get buddies. Much like Paper Mario they are a second playable character with their own moves/abilities, cannot be equipped with anything, and perform actions out on the main maps too.

Like the first buddy you get is Butters. He's a paladin that can hit enemies to put them in a Pisseed Off state and Butters gets all their aggro. He'll also pat you on the back for healing (it's fucking adorable).

Yep - people might find South Park old, but their newer episodes are still enjoyable/funny/interesting even if they don't hit the high notes you're expecting/remember from its middle seasons. Simpsons on the other hand is like watching the slowest trainwreck in history, one that continues on forever because people crash more trains into it just when you thought the fires were about to die down...
