Finished this (on hard with hints turned off) and loved it. I'm amazed that something from the developer of Uncharted has this much gameplay substance. So few games nowadays restrict your items/character upgrades and force you to strategize. Focus groups seem to hate that sim-y stuff I love in action adventures.
My only complaint is that they didn't go more ambitious with the level design and object interactivity. It would have been cool if those locked doors you open with shivs offered new paths instead of just supply rooms. I would have loved to see more expansive and multi-pathed levels you could get lost in.

I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me.
That is really cool. Anyone who has finished the game should watch that and enjoy.
This game SUCKS. how did so many of you like this? Zeed, you too?
The story is so fucking awful. The body count is so high. The stealth sections are dreadfully tedious. The level design is shit. The "exploration" is nonexistent. It's so linear. I have to wait for assholes to finish talking for minutes on end about boring crap so they can patrol boring routes. It's boring!
Upgrades are handed out deliberately but spread around in lots of drawers, some of which are empty. Why?
You pretty much always have enough bullets to shoot yor way through everything, but never enough to do it creatively or tactfully, forcing you either to play stealthfully OR to have boring shootouts. Why?
One hit kills and instant red pawns take all tension out of the game. Right in the beginning I went left instead of right because I misread the stage lighting indicators, instant died, then started again immediately. From that early moment on I didn't give a shit about death anymore. I punch my way through most fights, unless enemies have guns. Then I have to actually be stealthy. It's awful.
AWFUL.
Fuck limiting the ammo when dying is of such little consequence. Fuck rooms made of chest high walls. Fuck one ladder puzzle mechanics. Fuck this boring story. And fuck boring boring boring stealth over and over.
ONCE a group of guys moved through and past me. Purposefully. They had shit to do, somewhere else. I slid around the side and continued on. That was cool. No other part of the game has been like that.
I wish this game was like a huge open world style thing, and you had different objectives in the world, and zombies and hunters just roamed about doing their thing.
I don't want to hear strategize anything. The most effective thing is a stealth takedown. You can or can't use a shiv. Whatever.
Resident evil 4 is MUCH better. That game is about combat, and that combat is exciting, dynamic, and fluid. The enemies are scarier (clickers, though they kill in one hit, are barely scary, especially since death doesn't matter at all) the guns are better and you're not crouching behind wall after wall shooting whatever.
Sorry you didn't like it. It sounds like you don't care about the story. Sounds like you don't like the checkpoint system (I agree that death means almost nothing). It sounds like you don't enjoy the stealth, or cover shooting.
All of these things exist in other games, so I'm guessing that you don't like the pace and story of this game, and it's soured you on everything else. But that's fine, just move on.

I'm curious what difficulty he played. Naughty Dog games should never be played on anything less than Hard, and the fact they lock the highest difficulty continues to piss me off.
You know those people who think the group of friends they're in doesn't have an asshole, but they end up being the asshole.
Might be the issue here.
