Thread: The Last of Us (PS3)

  1. It's a great game for people that like games like this, I'm not going to deny it. The production values are out of this world.
I'm just horrible at stealth/action games, and I don't like things like "this cupboard with the circle hovering over it is open-able, but the 12 next to it aren't."
I also don't like dark games (especially when playing on the glare ridden beast that is the Sony Playstation Monitor).
But I'm outside now, on my way to meet my bro for a car.

  2. You must hate Alien Isolation.

Spoilers: There are clickers hiding in the backseat.

  4. Just got the shotgun.
    Now I'm having fun.

Gotta jack that brightness up in the option menu, son. That and the ability to adjust the dynamic range of the audio makes me super happy.

I enjoyed the story enough to overlook some of the things that annoyed me about the gameplay. Same way I can forgive some hoaky things in an otherwise great movie.

  6. Use the bow like Rambo. Also, I love killing clickers, they are pretty dumb.

  7. Yeah, I've been using the bow for large groups. Take fuckers out without risking being swarmed.

Once you acquire the use of the Nail Bomb, the way you approach the enemies becomes way more interesting. The 1st 3 or 4 hours can be frustrating because of the limited weapon choices.

  9. The nail bomb is a game changer.

The Last of Us is certainly good enough to play through once (I would say it's essential), but the Ellie-in-a-blizzard mission was enraging enough that I will never do it again.

  10. I loved it. Running out of ammo etc... can be a pain in the ass in some stretches but an overall great experience.
