Thread: The Man That Created Street Fighter: Takashi Nishiyama Interview at 1up

I also didn't play SF1 until well after the release of part 2. It's so horrible, I love playing the Turbo CD version once in a while. Even my wife said it looked like shit.

  2. I played Street Fighter at a local batting cage once a few years after SF II came out.

I thought the buttons on the cabinet were broken or something since none of my fireballs or dragon punches ever came out.

Nope, that's SF1, the cab was probably fine.

It just isn't very fun to play, and it's so rough around the edges that it seems like a beta. The jumps don't even follow a parabolic trajectory, it's just a triangle.
Yie-ar Kung Fu shits all over SF1.
The punches and kicks in SF1 do seem slightly laggy- probably because you have to let off the button to do the move. YAKF is definitely faster paced than SF1- you get the joystick/button combo in, out comes the move- right away. I once got bulldozed by Lee while trying to Shoryuken him.

    Finished in 2021: 8 games (PC: 4, PS4: 2, PS3: 1, X1: 1)
