1. Resident Evil: Revelations (3DS, Normal)
This is without question my favorite portable game. The episodic concept worked perfectly, as I typically played one or two of the twelve at a time. I wish more console games adopted that pacing. The game wound up being just over 10 hours for me, so almost an hour per episode and in line with a TV drama. The balance between action and survival horror was much better than RE5's as well.
Capcom's smartest move was knowing when and how to use the hardware. The Circle Pad Pro greatly enhanced the experience, though the game is highly playable with it. The 3D was effective and never gave me any sort of headache, even in longer sessions. And the touch screen garbage was kept to a minimum and never during action sequences. It was solely to open doors in various ways. Finally, and most importantly, the gyroscope doesn't do shit.
It's too bad Nintendo screwed the pooch on 3DS achievements, but the Mission system in this worked well as a surrogate. Now that I've unlocked all the Raid levels, I'll have to get on my brother to finish the Campaign as well so we can knock them all out. Some day I'll go back and try either Hell difficulty or to do the no deaths play through.
9/10
