My daughter's copy already shipped. She'll still enjoy it, and it's $30, but the once promising 3DS lineup is going to shit quick. Couple these reviews with the fact that Castlevania looks worse every time they show it, and Resident Evil may be the last game I put any serious time into on there.
I feel compelled to buy this since a childhood friend helped make it, but... yeah.

So far the only offense is its easy - but after Dream Rift scaled waaaaaaaaaaaay down on that aspect between Henry Hatsworth and Monster Tale, I'm none too surprised.
The game deviates from the demo almost immediately too - the first level is still the same, but then the actual game goes to London and Neverland before (I assume) Hook's ship. So it's a treat getting to see some stuff right out the gate that wasn't in the demo.
The painting/thinning stuff is what it is - I think it's interesting that if you paint something in crappy, it can actually be a crappy object (one time I screwed up with an 'okay' rank and part of the platform had spikes on it), but it's still tracing and scribbling on the touchscreen...
Also, I'm just enjoying the game on an aesthetic level. The sprites and backgrounds are wonderful. The 3D really makes layers in the back pop and breathes a lot of life and clarity into the already wonderful 2D art. I want more games like this.
Yeah, it's a overall well-made platformer so far.
This holiday season seems to be a litmus test for US publishers determining play time in portable efforts. Both Epic Mickey and CoD have had this point raised and Adventure Time, a title guaranteed to sell on name and potential to be a never-ending quest clocks in at 4 hours.
