It appears that Notch is the culprit.

  2. If I was him I just would've spent it on a hooker and drugs, but good for him.

  3. Why is Notch throwing 10Gs for every Kickstarter under the sun? I mean, it's his money and that's cool, but it seems like he's single-handedly funding all these things

  4. For one thing, his money wasn't necessary. They made the goal no problem without his donation. For the other thing, he likes this kind of game and has apparently decided the incredible excess of Minecraft money is best spent making sure the indie game scene is as healthy as he can reasonably make it. If I had that kind of cash he's got, I can think of a few projects I'd fund that would have other people scratching their heads. I really hope you've got a couple of those yourself.

  5. Yeah. I didn't know he liked this kind of game. Makes sense, then.

  6. Notch usually buys a Humble Bundle for at least a couple thousand too

  7. Looks like I was wrong- Notch doesn't play this kind of game. He's more of a Team Fortress 2 player, apparently. I guess he just really, really likes throwing the indie money around.

Ugh, this one might be trouble. I liked how they had to take down some "concept art" because the photographer of the undoctored image found out they posted it without permission. And how the project is mostly to prove to real investors that there's a market for this kind of game.

This looks vastly more promising than Takedown. They at least have some videos up of the game in action, rather than hastily-photoshopped images. Check out the third video for a brilliant door-opening mechanic somewhat reminiscent of Amnesia.

  10. In fairness, Serellan is trying to create a studio of experienced AAA game developers, which makes it hard to do a lot of prototyping without money in place.
