Thread: Kickstarter's All-purpose Speculatory Thread of Dreams

    wait really? That's awfully exciting.

  2. Is the publisher kicking in $4,500,000 no matter what, or is the final Kickstarter take going to be 10% of the total budget allotted to the game no matter what it ends up being? Pretty sure it's the former, and at this rate the publisher will most likely end up contributing more like 66% overall.

Yeah, there's no way the publisher agreed to linearly scale their investment.

I really am not looking forward to crafting in this game. I fucking hate that shit unless I'm playing Minecraft.

    Bitch this aint Craftlevania.

This is intriguing but seemingly not very realistic: An honest to goodness, correct use of of the word "retro" console, the Retro VGS. If they can somehow get indies to port their games to this, it might work. My guess is there would be a market of people who would pay ~$100 for a console to play retro games who don't care about anything else on current or even last gen consoles. The problem is that I don't think they'll be able to produce enough to make it that cheap.

  6. I think I realized I want to see a video game being pitched on Shark Tank.

Good question! I'm not sure. I hope it's the latter so they're fucking sweating bullets. The interview was from before the KS and hopefully there'll be more transparency as the process continues. With the right budget they could make something that looks similar to Xrd, which would be INSANE. I'm just really hoping that Iga is pushing for a high-budget, 2.5D, full-ass console, modern Igavania.

They're basically at $1,500,000 now. Blew the roof off this motherfucker, gat damn.
HA! HA! I AM USING THE INTERNET!!1

I've read about this thing quite a bit.

LOL is all I've got to say about that.

I hope I'm pleasantly surprised, rather than you being disappointed, but I doubt it.

All would be forgiven with regard to Igarashi if he pulled off what you just described.

  10. Yeah, the fact that they're mentioning retail console versions makes me wonder about the price point. I'd love to see this game as much as the next guy, but if they think a side-scroller is going to be a big seller at $60 full retail on console, I'd think they're a bit naive.

Crazier things have happened, I guess. Rayman Legends somehow scraped by (albeit below expectations). But that had Ubisoft's marketing muscle behind it. I guess we'll see.
