I don't see the issue. If you want a game that most publishers wouldn't touch with a 10 foot pole and these guys are willing to make it, what's the issue? That they've done it before successfully? That they don't want to lose money doing it?
I seriously don't get the complaint. Is this some weird honor thing, like not throwing in fighting games?
As a backer, don't you generally pay less than the new price of the game once it releases? What more should you, as a consumer buying a video game, care about?
Are recording artists who don't go through the major labels and sell straight to people also commiting some strange sin in the chain of command?

Here, it sounds like they have delivered successfully on Kickstarters past so your weird little grumpy argument doesn't work too well.
