Thread: Fire Emblem for the GBA! To buy or not??

  1. Fire Emblem for the GBA! To buy or not??

I've been hearing Rumors that Nintendo was going to release F.E. stateside, but that's all it seems to be, RUMORS that have dragged on for nearly a year. My question to anyone who has the import, is it worth buying in Japanese? There seems to be a couple of helpful walktroughs online, so I'm really not worried about getting stuck. But is it a fun game? That's the real question (and yes I've played through & own MANY imports). Anyone who owns it, I'd love to hear some impressions. Thanks.

  2. I got an e-mail from an NOA reprensentative saying that they still have plans to release the game in America, but their release schelude says otherwise.

And yes, you should import Fire Emblem for the GBA. While I haven't played it yet, I do have the original Fire Emblem and Fire Emblem Gaiden for the Famicom and they're some of the greatest games I've ever played it. NoA are a bunch of idiots for not bringing the series to America in the first place.

  3. I found it somewhat disturbing that it wasn't at this years E3 and everyone at the Nintendo booth I asked had no idea... it would be sad if this doesn't come out here like all the others

I picked up the DX version of Fire Emblem GBA, but unfortunately I haven't even started to play it so I couldn't give you any impressions... maybe I will play some this weekend just so I can give you some impressions on it

If this does eventually make it to the USA I will be buying it definately, for one it is in english and two I want to show support for it of course

  4. With how well both Advanced Wars and Tactics Ogre: Knight of Lodis have been selling, Nintendo would be crazy not to bring this Stateside. People are apparently hungry for some strat/RPG action on the go
    omg TNL epics!

  5. All indications are that the game is still coming out. I think Nintendo re-confirmed it sometime around e3, even though the game was not there. I think what happened is that the game is just being pushed back for whatever reason. But all along Nintendo has continued to say that the game will be coming out in NA, so until I hear otherwise I am still hopeful.

This is my #1 anticipated game right now.

Tactics Ogre should keep me busy for a while anyway.

    Mine too

I hope it is true, I played some of the Import copy I have and it is indeed a beautiful game and the battle system is as good as ever in the Fire Emblem series... unfortunately it is very text heavy and that is why I pray for an english version.

Does anyone know if Shining Soul has been anounced for the USA yet?

  7. Here's IGN's hands on Import report, they have some nice shots and movies of it to check out

I read an article that said it was one of the games that THQ plans on publishing in NA, as per their agreement with SEGA.

I read this about a week after e3, but I no longer remember where I read it so I can't supply a link.

  9. Nintendo would crazy not to release Fire Emblem simply because it's another piece of software to attract potential buyers. Playing it safe and only releasing Mario, Zelda, etc, is going to make them money but not expand their customer base.

AND MY RAGE WILL BE GREAT IF SHINING SOUL IS NOT RELEASED.

  10. Lesse here, NOA doesn't bring out:

    Sin and Punishment

    Magical Vacation

....and they don't even seem to KNOW themselves if Fire Emblem will be released here. Oh wait, they just don't care that people like us, their customers, want to play the @#$% game because it's one 'O them there freaky slippery "niche" games that they're scared will upset the "safety" of their filtered lineup. Yeah play it safe suits, cuz we all know if Fire Emblem is released in the U.S. (in the same quantities as say, Advance Wars) there's a huge OFF chance it'll sell really, really poorly and this one game will make a big dent in your delicate $100 quadrillion dollar GBA software profits. What a bunch of knuckle draggin', corporate exec, ignorant, clueless, suit-brained MORONS. And on another note, Intelligent Systems is the true talented underdog of Nintendo. Metroid is their only series which has gotten the proper north american treatment AFAIK.
