Before the Devil Knows You're Dead opening is fine if you want porn.
Lost is pure sexiness and class.
Ok, how did I miss that last time?? Yes it was a good one, but no Before the Devil Knows You're Dead.

Not as classy as John C Riley in the nude. He's from Rochester too, so yeah...

Watched this with the gf over the weekend. Apparently she'd never seen it before.
This is the exact same reaction to it that she had.
I still can't think of many movies that somehow manage to capture the feelings associated with culture shock the way this one does. Bill Murray bums me out these days (in a good way, if that makes any sense).
so have you all seen the video where they boosted the sound on bill murray at the end and we know what he says?

I never want to know for the same reason I never want to know the Childlike Empress's name or the last word of The Rules of Attraction.
We watched them share that moment. That's all we need.

I WANT TO KNOW WHAT THE FUCK WAS IN THE BRIEFCASE!
DID THE TOP STOP SPINNING? I NEED TO KNOW!
WHY THE FUCK IS A BUS STOPPING WHEN THE STOP IS CLEARLY "NOT IN SERVICE"?
My (admittedly odd) take on the movie: I had an easier time accepting this as Sophia Coppola's personal video memoir. The profound statement about culture shock was being made for her, instead of the statement being made by the director. The chemistry between Bill and Scarlett's characters ring authentic, but the narrative isn't focused, and most of the scenes were improvised by the actors or the director's friends. I just have problems taking it seriously as romantic drama. If you break disbelief entirely, and study the director and cinematography, the movie becomes a far more pleasant and naive version of Enter the Void.
