Thread: What's Out in August 2012?

  1. lol.

  2. New Super Mario Bros 2 for sure, although I'll be out of town when my copy arrives.

Will pick up Darksiders II, Dust, and the 3DS XL down the line.

  3. That's the only game I get for the 3DS. That is a platform bereft of quality

Nothing screams "must buy" this month. I'll check out Dust and Deadlight but I'm not sold on either of them just yet. Thank heaven for XBLA demos. Darksiders II looks pretty nice but I think I'll contribute to the declining fortunes of THQ by waiting for an inevitable Steam sale. And that's about it.

I don't understand people lining up to buy the same bad Mario game for a third time. Buy another copy of 3D Land instead. At least that sends the right message. Or, better yet, buy actual good platformers like Rayman Origins or Sonic Generations.

  6. Maybe I won't get it then

Destructoid still says it's good. I do have Rayman and should probably play that instead.

  7. Persona 4 Arena really is coming out next week?!

I'll definitely pick that up day 1. I've become such a huge MegaTen dork.

NSMB 2 I am interested in, because it turns SMB into a score attack game.

The 3DS XL I am less enthusiastic about purchasing, because according to 1UP.com original DS games still don't look that great on it. I trust Jeremy Parish to be as obsessive about pixel quality as I am when it comes to handheld gaming.

He's wrong about the best way of playing GBA games being the DS Lite. The A and B buttons are mapped all stupid to A and B instead of Y and B. Stick to the GBA SP.

He's right about everything else, though, so why would you buy a 3DS XL for DS games? That's what the DSi XL is for.

  9. I support the idea of a Grand Unification Nintendo Portable wherein all my DS and 3DS games look beautiful on one single device.

Alas, it is not to be. I will thus continue to have an armful of Nintendo handhelds.

Jeremy Parish is wrong about a lot this article not withstanding.

I love that DMG border on the 1:1 screens. That's a serious plus for the XL if anything useful ever gets released in the eShop.
