Cousins should have been in there in the 2nd half. It was still a game at half-time, but the Seahawks looked dominant in the 3rd and it was clear RG3 wasn't even close to 100%.
Shanahan addressed this in his post game conference, he asked his starting QB if he wanted to sit out and he told shanahan that hurt/injured are two different things and he was hurting but not injured and therefore he felt he needed to stay in the game. Shanahan trusted his rookie QB's heart to want to finish the game and it failed them both in the end. When Cousins finally appeared out of necessity he didn't convince anyone that had he came in earlier things would have gone any more favorably for the redskins (aside from a possible averted fumble on the injury play, but Cousins could have turned it over as well in another fashion , we will never know)
At the end of the day the starting QB should take fault for not understanding his limitations and in the mind of the coaches and fans of this team, he is a better QB even at 75% than his backup, too bad he was more likely around 50% since one of his strengths as a running QB was non-exisent and overall effected his ability to find open receivers. This is not an excuse for the loss by the way.
Shanahan should shut his damn mouth.
MLB managers understand that players will say they are fine when they are not, and act accordingly to protect everyone's interests. This comes up about 5000 times a year during the MLB season.
NFL coaches do not understand this for some reason.
RG3 is a baller. He's been playing his whole life. Of course he doesn't want to come out. He'll say anything to stay in. He's paid to play - he was doing what he was paid to do. He's not paid to make the decision on who plays, though. Shanahan is.
Cousins came in after the team had melted down in the 3rd. If he came out at half, who knows.
This 100% Shanahan's fault. It is not on the player to take himself out.
Players perform on the field, coaches do everything else.
Gotta be worse for a Rookie that everyone has put all their hopes on of being just incredible, and being in a playoff game in the first year. Would you take yourself out then?
Bills hire Doug Marrone, formerly HC of Syracuse and OC at Saints for a few years.
NFL experience, has ties to upstate NY, seemed to turn around Syracuse into a competent football team - not a bad pick. We'll see. This team really does have more talent than 6-10.
Just look at Jay Cutler last year for an example of how people react when you take yourself out of the game, even if it's for a valid reason.
