Thread: Darkstalkers Resurrection

  1. Because it was built from the ground up, Hero. Capcom is switching out roms like you would switch out boards on a CPS2 machine.

  2. Not really built from the ground-up. It's been a while since I played it, but I'm pretty sure the PSP game was a port of Dreamcast's Vampire Chronicle.
Still way more work than the Iron Galaxy/CPS2 ROM dump package they've been doing though.

  3. The goal with these releases is an arcade perfect port with nice online and some extras. The ten people that still play this game don't want the mishmash super collection thing. If you want that, the DC, PSP and PS2 collection are great.

Anyway, it seems that Iron Galaxy is being much more conscientious with these ports now. Here are some things I posted and Derek replied to.

-Based on the 1997/05/19 rom, like you are able to set it up in the PS2 collection. (Vampire Savior)

-Please make sure that the game has no input delay, in any mode. The PS2 collection reportedly has input delay in the versus mode. Please look in to this.

-Please keep the input display for training mode like the PS2 collection.

-We need a way for new and old players alike to practice Vampire Savior's complicated pushblocking. Either a "pushblocking training" section in training mode (similar to parry training for Third Strike), or a "challenge" of sorts similar to the character trials. Have the game tell the player how many inputs they are achieving within the window, with 6 inputs as the ultimate goal.

Wow, a lot of stuff in here. Some answers:

    1) We're starting with the same version of the game that was used for the PS2 version. As several people have pointed out, that version was basically just running the arcade ROM, although it also had some tweaks and bug fixes (for example, fixing certain situations where some attacks were unblockable).

We're not straight porting the PS2 version (for example, other games that were included in that package are not also in this one), and we're also not including the bug-fixes that were made for the PS2 version. The end result is that our version is essentially the same as the original arcade version, although it does come with some fancy extras.

    2) After feedback from the launch, we're changing the game so that selecting "Turbo" will automatically set the speed to Turbo 3. This will also be the default for online play.

    3) We already have the ability to shut off the high-res character screens. I mentioned this several times during Comic Con

    Cheers,

    Derek
Hopefully they consider the other stuff as well.
