I actually can't believe I typed that either. Game journalists....who cares, right? They're such losers! All they do is sit around playing games months before they're in stores, getting paid to eat Doritos! Fucking losers! We're the real winners...we grind through mind numbing numbers all day as accountants and play games for a couple hours each night before we have to go to bed to get up early to face that excel spreadsheet in the morning. Fucking awesome!

Game journalists have the more fun job day to day, but you're probably starting to make more money than you know what to do with, and you'll be able to retire comfortably at some point which can't be said about game journalists.

I'd rather play Super Hexagon, or what I'm currently obsessing over- The Saboteur. Games don't need legitimization, although there's still a (long, long loooooong) ways to go in the maturing of the medium.

Yeah and to be honest, most of the mainstream stuff isn't really worth playing that much these days anyways compared to the crop of indie games.

End of the day, they're doing what they love. And getting paid to play videogames.

Also pretty sure a decent amount don't need the cash and some, a few Polygon people for example, come from well off backgrounds.
