Finally saw this. way better than RotF, better than DotM, and slightly below the first film. While the complaints are still there (Transformium, talkie-talkie, and the terrible transforming cg for Megatron and his Wu-Tang Clan). Marky Mark and the Auto Bots weren't that bad. The 3D was straight up insane though. This is the one film that the 3D blows you away. Those drones were so close to your face it was crazy. My buds kid was scared of them, because they were so close to you. When Lockdown called for the ship to turn around and the camera panned into his face. In 3D I saw the details of his mouth.

Just caught this. There was some absurd shit in this, even for Mr Bay, but it was watchable.

edit: also the Transformium transformation process was retarded. Looked terrible, and honestly shocked me compared to the rest of the film.

Yeah, the transformium transformations were the most phoned in shit.

Thoughts:

Not that bad. Not great, but nothing made me super angry. It was still a mess. Major plot points just kinda came out of nowhere. Too much generic human story. This, combined with World War Z, Frozen, and a dozen other movies makes me wonder if the new current thing is "the importance of family"

Between this movie and the Shoot the Brownies movie he was just in, Wahlberg seems intent on exactly that lately.

maybe I'm getting old, but the dad and the bf seemed like the same age. Fuck, they seemed like the same character.

I did like the homages to the old show. I liked that opitmus was a flat cab. I liked that most of the first hour was set in large open spaces, especially texas.

Don't know why they did the steve jobs shit like the new robocop. It wasn't that great then, not that great now. Maybe the super company owner, aka Iron Man is hot right now? Don't know. It felt needless.

Plot is still a mess. But hey, maybe that is a homage to the old cartoon too. Soooo, the first few movies had planet sun eater things under the pyramids? And that is why the transformers came to earth? But now the Quentasans came even earlier with bomb seed things? I'm just waiting for them to not try at all and have the autobots stop megatron and cobra commander from building a huge death ray. Hell, that would make more sense.

The dinobots and John Goodman felt tacked on. Which is sad. Because they're the best parts of the movie. I'd be happy with a game where I played as JG or Grimlock from this movie. The others, I don't know.

Frozen, come on, it's a kid's movie.
