Right, but she wasn't anything special. He wasn't descended from the story's main characters because even though there's an entire of universe to draw from, the fans and creators want every fucking plot point to revolve around and be descended from the same dozen characters.

Agreed. I would prefer Rey be from similarly humble origins or at least a different family's less humble ones. That's why I kept using the term "lazy" for the Luke speculation.

What do you mean Anakin didn't come from nowhere? I thought he was immaculately conceived? (by the force or something dumb) That's the very definition of "coming from nowhere".

But yes, I agree it's a disservice to have new characters so tightly tied to existing characters. It says the writers think we're too dumb to understand how a universe of characters could fit in together to form a story bigger than themselves.

So, I mean, Yoda was over 800 years old, and new Yoda has been running this bar thing in Awakens for over a 1000 years. Maybe tapping into the force in certain ways can extend life?
