Thread: Completion Thread 2013: Prove the Justice of Our Culture

  1. What kept you going? George Railroad Martin faithful?

  2. I caved and bought that game when amazon was offering both it and the hardbound artbook for $15. I look at it like i paid $15 for the book and got a game i will never play for free.

An hour led to another hour and after a bunch of hours I was at the point where I just said "Fuck it, might as well finish this piece of shit."

  4. Just beat Tomb Raider. Wasn't expecting to do this given that it was just a rental, but it only took two days to beat and enjoy some of the multi-player too. Loved the storyline as a whole even if the side characters really don't matter outside of two of them. It's basically Uncharted Starring Lara Croft, but with more graphic content that fits the theme of the game.

This was pretty good. It's a bit less polished than the Uncharted games (maybe the 60fps makes animation flaws clearer?), but the production values are still ridiculous and I think that the combat sequences work better in this than in Uncharted. Sure, the cover is automated, but the enemies are at least aggressive enough to keep you moving and you don't do a lot of waiting around. I didn't go too far out of my way to find extras, but the animal hunting and side tombs are a neat touch.

    #17 - Silpheed (Sega CD)

I still find the streaming video impressive even all these years later. The perspective is pretty shitty, the bosses are dumb; game just isn't that good. I liked it more than I should have!

    #18 - Battletoads (Genesis)

Just complete shit. What a terrible port of a great game. It plays like shit, the AI is busted for so many of the enemy types, the timing of certain segments is completely fucked up, the intro and ending cutscenes are just jarringly missing... ugh. There's absolutely no reason to ever play this. The port was credited to Arc System Works staff, lol. One other awesome thing: every website ever has shared an incorrect level select password for this game without testing it, like a fucking STD. Pretty great. It was easier just to man up and beat it.

I'm going to have to think long and hard about keeping this in my home. It's pretty offensive.

    It's SMB3! Again!

    #20 - Aladdin (SNES)

This is a way meatier platformer than the Genesis version but guess what? The Genesis one is still better. Not a bad game at all, though.

  8. Tomb Raider.

This is the GOTY so far. I finished with 88% on Hard (not very hard). I will go back and get the 100% but probably not right away.

  9. Tomb Raider 100%. Awesome game.

  10. 5)Need for Speed: Most Wanted
Went back to this one to clear some achievements that I was borderline on. Found all the car locations and speed traps, drove every car, got all Pro unlocks for one car. With those wrapped up, I'm finished with the game. I have most of the billboards and there has been quite a bit of content added to the game since I last played (November) but I've had my fill at 25 hours. Probably the biggest Criterion Games disappointment for me in the company's history.
