3. VVVVVV (3DS)
Finished with 11/20 trinkets. Took about 3.5 hours. Wonderful platformer with an excellent soundtrack. I don't usually enjoy chiptune, but this soundtrack manages to use chiptune elements in creative ways. I also think that the 3D really adds a lot to the game. Great game to play in short bursts.
4. Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey (DS)
Chaos path, Level 76, 98 hours on the game clock. And I left a bunch of side quests unfinished. This game really starts to drag at the 60 hour mark, but picks up toward the end.
At first I really hated the "demon source" fusion system, because it was so different from the SMT series both pre- and post-Persona 4. Thinking back, I kinda liked it. It's a middle ground between the 100% customizable fusion system in Persona 4 and the strict race inheritance system post-Nocturne (and possibly before; Nocturne is the earliest SMT I've played). You can play "demon eugenics" and plan out your fusions to carry over specific skills, or you can use demon sources to simply add the specific skills you want to a single fusion. At the same time, there are so many demons in the game that you can almost always find a demon source for the particular skill you want. Interestingly, resistances are far less important in this game than in just about every SMT game I've played (with the exception of Curse/Expel). Which is good, because it's often very difficult to engineer demons with specific resistances.
I had planned on resuming Etrian Odyssey IV after this, but I think I need to take a break from dungeon crawlers for a little bit. At least until Soul Hackers comes out!
