Yeah, friend of mine who backed during the kickstarter is getting his consumer version for free now and I'm jealous.
Oculus was kinda riding on that 350-400 point for a while, but I think that was before the headset switched from one display to two displays and it includes those games now. I'm expecting 450 or 500, but speculation is all over the place.
I'm excited.

Seems like they'd keep the initial price really low to build enough of a user base that they could control the 'vr standard' going forward without getting lost in the shuffle, but early adopters are stupid and will pay whatever.

"Free" as in he bought a novel gimmicky devkit three years ago for $300 and is now getting a waaaay nicer second headset that he had no clue he'd be getting. Pretty good deal imo.

I didn't place my pre-order. The reason being...I don't know if I want to spend 1000 on Oculus devices with little announced support. As much as it sucks, at least with PSVR I know about thing that aren't indie games
