I'm completely opposite of you. It's worse that I thought it would be, even with relatively low expectations. I seriously can't recommend this game to anyone so far through the first 3 - 4 missions. The car controls are horrid, with the on foot controls following close by in terms of horribleness. Within the first 2 hours I got stuck on different elements and obstacles around the city more than I can count. This isn't even taking into consideration that it looks like a last generation game on PS4. I got on a motorcycle for the first time and started driving through the streets and I was honestly shocked with how flat the lighting + texturing is and empty feeling the city is. The hacking is alright, I guess. It's difficult with the poor driving to actually effectively use the hacking skills you gain while driving without slowing to a stop or running your ass into a side walk, pedestrian, or another car. The camera missions are cool, though I have the feeling that they will overstay their welcome. And why does the game try and funnel you into an action oriented shooter style of play? I thought you were supposed to be a stealthy hacker dude!

This is even with low expectations going into the game. I'm going to give it an honest chance to get better, but so far I am less than impressed. Having played GTA5, AC4, and Infamous Second Son pretty much back to back though, this had a lot to live up to in terms of open world expectations.

  3. Are we talking Driv3r level of horrible-ness as far as controls go?

  4. Maybe the cars control better on Xbox? I jumped in a bunch of different vehicles and they drive fine. I can weave in and out of traffic without losing control and still hack shit.

I didn't play Driv3r, but they are pretty boat like. You can get the cars going fast, but unless you use the handbrake there's no sense in trying to turn because you'll just run into stuff. And using the handbrake all the time kind of sucks. The motorcycles handle like better cars than the cars do, but don't handle anything like a motorcycle did. Bikes were better in GTA: Vice City than they are in Watch Dogs, if that's a good indication on how far off the driving feels.

Samurai, maybe I just don't get how to drive effectively. But for some reason I don't think that's the case since I'm not the only one who feels the driving controls aren't the best.

  7. The driving handles fine. Simple, easy, and arcadey. Yes, you'll need the handbrake to make sharp turns, though.

Nothing about this game really bothers me. It's actually very solid. But it's GTA4 in a post-GTA5 world. The world, while big, reuses a lot of assets so you lose a lot of sense of where you are and that undermines the scale a bit. I saw the same sculpture palette swapped in two different places.

  8. I think every open world game is fucked when compared to
    GTA 5.

  9. Ehh I dunno about that.

Technically GTA V is amazing but I enjoyed Just Cause 2 and Sleeping Dogs more than the time I spent with GTA V outside of the usual dicking around non mission stuff.
