I like new takes on things. It's not like the classic versions are wiped off of the face of the planet. All I know is baby boomers clinging to their childhood's fiercely made a lot of really LAME ASS SHIT for us growing up. Lets not do the same to the next-gen. Open the mind.

I like and expect new things but it's nice when there are particular callbacks here and there to the parts I used to know.
Except when it's a painfully awkward self-referencing joke about how much "better" they are now, such as the comment in X-Men about Wolverine's tights. All of those pathetic attempts at being clever can fuck right off.
Wolverine can wear his underwear outside of his pants in the comics and look like a badass. Doesn't work for film.

Yeah, but as Marvel has amply demonstrated there's a happy medium where you take the original look and respectfully modify it into something that does work on film, and then there's "who gives a shit, we'll just use leftover Matrix outfits."
