Thread: Classic Game Shows

  1. I haven't been to the one in Vegas but I've been to most of the others out there. The Midwest Gaming Classic in Milwaukee is by far the most worthwhile to travel to. There is a lot more than just a dealer room (which is 90+% of most of these shows), they have a large amount of arcade and pinball machines in the hotel with tournaments all the time, there is a pretty decent "Gaming and Computing Museum" (which I never get much of a chance to check out) and events all weekend. They've also had a huge upgrade in locations since I first went and it was in some tiny town in the middle of nowhere. At least now there is a lot to do in the surrounding area.

I'll be selling again this year. Got 3 tables to split with a friend. The only downside is that I'll have almost zero free time to check out anything but the dealer room.

Most shows get talked about over at this board on Digital Press. That's about as good as I can do for a list. And stay away from the Cleveland show. It's only a 2 hour drive for me and I don't think it's worth even that. There's a big show in Portland too but I've been told by some vendors who do that one that it isn't as big as the Midwest Classic.

  2. Yeah, everything I've heard suggests that the Classic Gaming Expo in Vegas and the Midwest Classic are the two best. I'd rather go to the CGE than E3.

  3. Win Ben Stein's Money is something of a neo-classic.

This is totally what I was thinking when I saw this thread.

My uncle won on that show, by the way. But the prize was only like $5000 IIRC, so it doesn't matter.
