First-person Games in 2002

This looks to be a great year for first-person games.

We have already had Jedi Outcast, 2 Medal of Honor games and Soldier of Fortune 2.

On the way, there's Unreal 2, Unreal Tournament 2003, Unreal Championship, Doom 3, Deus Ex 2, Thief 3, Metroid Prime, No One Lives Forever 2, Planetside, Brute Force, XIII, Elite Force 2, etc.

Who else is excited?

What games did I miss?

You missed Morrowind in your already out list, but only because you didn't specify first-person shooters. There's also that Mace something or other: Bounty Hunter game. And isn't Brute Force third-person?

But enough nitpicking. I'm excited. Who's developing Thief 3?

Yeah Morrowind is pretty major.

I assumed Brute Force offered both perspectives but I could be wrong.

Ion Storm Austin is developing Thief 3 so it should be in good hands.

Great. I'd prefer it if Looking Glass was still around (who wouldn't?) to make the game, but Ion Storm should make a terrific substitute.

I basically consider ISA to be the reincarnation of Looking Glass anyway considering Doug Church, Warren Spector and others are there.

Still, how Eidos let Looking Glass die is pretty lame.

The only FPS games I am remotly intrested in are:

Timesplitters 2 (XB/GC): This game is just plain awesome. I played the demo for the PS2 (I will be buying it for the GC or XB though), and its just plain fun. The sequal to Goldeneye has arrived.

Metroid Prime (GC): Good god this game looks amazing! I can't see how anyone can't be intrested in it.

Jedi Outcast (GC/XB): I don't like playing games on PC, so I am really happy this game is being ported to the XB and GC.

And thats it, could care less about the rest.

I am completely psyched up for Unreal tournament 2003!!! It's my favorite game ever!!! I have been playing the "leaked" full version of it from last May and I love it. I gotta get a new videocard though.
Prolly get a GeForce 4 Ti 4200 128 card. I have a geforce 2 64 meg card and in order to get the full effects at 6ofps, I gotta turn the resolution down to 800x600. Its not much of a difference though.
Plus it isnt a final version of the game, so I am sure it'll be optimized. The other games you mentioned , I am psyched for the other games you mentioned, but I love unreal the most. Doom 3 looks sweet, but I don't look for it to come out till late next year. Also, if you like computer FPS's I suggest you look for Shogo. It is an older game but still good. It has an anime flavor. You can get it for less than 10 bucks.
Also I am currently into playing Soldier of Fortune 2(randomly generated multiplayer maps!!!)
Return to Castle Wolfenstein Multi player.
If you haven't seen elsewhere on the board, don't waste your time D/Ling the america's army game, its horrible, i can't even get on a server. f#$k that game.
