Now they'e talking about a Han Solo origin story as well. They're going to cheapen the series to TV movie of the week levels if they milk it like this.
BTW, I hate the news about Yoda getting a whole film dedicated to him. Probably the second most boring and annoying SW character ever after Jar-Jar.

Mzo is right. I've read about 75% of the EU and the Tales novels are some of the worst.
The Tales comic was decent, hit & miss, but there were some cool shorts in there.

I haven't read any of it for years but there were some cool ones. The Thrawn saga was awesome of course. I liked the Han Solo (origin) novels, Shadows of the Empire was great, and The Truce at Bakura was another really good one. My favorites were the X-Wing series of novels (even the spinoff to a lesser effect). I loved the old flight simulator games for the PC and always thought the most exciting part about Star Wars was the space combat. Being as Tie Fighter is probably my favorite game of all time (I have the Galactic Empire insignia tattooed on my left upper arm), it would be cool to see something from the Imperial side.
They'd probably be better off leaving the major characters alone unless they wrote the movies based on the more successful novels/comics. The video games could be a good basis from which to start as well. A film about Kyle Katarn from Dark Forces would have promise.
I'm actually excited about these new movies. The OT is my favorite series of films but I hated the new trilogy outside of the last act of III. Disney has to realize that pleasing the older generations of fans will be very important to milk the full potential of this. I hope that they don't let us down and destroy the goodness from our childhoods just a little bit more![]()
I don't disagree with you, I liked Xwing and I, Jedi. I stopped reading around the time Phantom Menace came out and the books were being released more quickly than I could read, and the quality of most weren't great.
