Thread: Guardians of the Galaxy

  1. Thanos was introduced in Avengers, Marvel will market this as part of the road to Avengers 2, people will see it.
Edit: SCI FI FANS, LOOK OUT! GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY HAS AN EXCLUSIVE TRAILER FOR STAR WARS EPISODE 7.

    You better believe that'll happen.

Well Marvel is basically trying to diversify their movies beyond just Avengers which I think is good because they don't have the X-Men, Spider-Man, and the Fantastic Four moves to rely on and it gives other characters and concepts a chance at more public exposure.

I get the reticence about these particular characters since it seems like an oddball/wacky group of characters but they're actually pretty cool and work within the framework of Marvel's cosmic sci-fi area. I guess the closest comparison show or movie to this would be Farscape or Star Wars (without the puppets) where it's a mix of drama, humor, and fun in a sci-fi environment. When you couple this team with other cool staple characters like Thanos, Adam Warlock, Ronan the Accuser etc. and alien races like shape-shifting skrulls, the militaristic Kree, the Nova Corps, and the bigger picture universe then it gets even cooler.

Hopefully James Gunn can make it all work.

Nobody knew who the hell Blade was before his movie either. Or the Men in Black. Or The Mask.

Dipping into the deep end of comics properties isn't a big handicap as long as the movie's entertaining and can create some buzz.

  4. I can't wait for Ragman.

  5. I actually liked the Ragman mini series pat broderick drew...

The Mask was ALL Jim Carrey. MIB was riding Will Smith's career tidal wave. And Blade had a terrific trailer.

How'd The Mask part 2 do? Or Blade 3? Maybe this movie is fantastic, I don't know. What I do know is they should clearly be making X-Men and Spider-man, but since they can't they are making Ant-Man and this.

  7. I'm pretty sure there's another xmen on the way.
I don't know about spiderman, but the last one wasn't bad.

  8. There's another Spiderman coming.

  9. Error is mad Marvel isn't making Spider-man and X-men. But he is aware that they are legally forbidden to do so. So in the meantime he'd rather Marvel just make movies about the biggest and most well known properties that they do have the rights to.

Have you seen those movies? They're chock full of justifiable reasons for doing poorly that goes much deeper than not having a good trailer.

Watch this and honestly tell me it deserved to do better.

    I dare you.
