it sounds like the wiiu version is the one you were looking for than. the claw did hurt. the analog attacks were stupid, and the wii version was dumbed down. ,and you're in demon mode, so you can slide all over the place as long as you have the red bar. the trick to DS is switching between archdemon and keeping demon mode on as mch as possible. and sliding all over the place. they buffed the dodge window so you can slide through just about everything without evade. But if you can fight volvidon, and get his armor set, you can have a good ds set, so that basically as long as you have bar, you can't be touched.

Sword and shield is boring, guns are boring.
I was considering the switch axe.

Sword and shield sucks because the damage is way too low. It was good in Freedom because the damage coefficient was broken.

Guns suck because you need to make a totally separate armor set for it, plus ammo.

I'm all about the great sword and hammer with some lance on the side for Tri. Haven't tried any of the new weapons yet.

Also don't know if anything has been rebalanced for Ultimate, but it does sound like every monster has been nerfed nasty.

Dual blades are the boss. they where my weapon of choice for Unite and p3rd. Bows are also fun as hell, and there is nothing quite like cluster shot spamming. Sword and board is almost a constant barrage of damage. hell in the demo i beat urukususu in like 2 min with the S&S.
right now though its hammer,gunlance,and switch axe. i dont touch Dual blades until i can make some high rank version. they are best with coupled with the proper element and a good armor skill set. Destroying Devil Jho and double Jinouga with Dual blades is a blast

Finally took down the quablahblah wyvern. Bastard kept calling a big fuck dude, but we were able tl get around him. Took almost the entire 50 minutes, but we did it.
Now to do it again!

Keep in mind that all my experience comes from Freedom and Tri. JBNagis would know more about those weapons if they were changed in Freedom Unite or Portable 3rd.

I do want to try out the bow. It looked super fun in FU.

I played some online with my friend, we killed a few of those Qurupecos. Any time it would call down the big beast he would throw dung at the bitch it called in, which would make it run away. I'm all about the Long Sword so far.
